Tough carries a lot of meanings: defiant, hard, resistant, strong and resilient... The film’s protagonist, Jarosław Surmacz, chose this name for his discovery: Harda (Tough) Cave in the Tatra Mountains of Poland. The place stirs his imagination while abruptly and obsessively pushing him forward. The camera follows him, step by step, taking part in the exploration of spaces never seen before, which increasingly resist the delicate human presence.
