Over the course of 25 years, the Finnish writer and artist Tove Jansson and the graphic artist Tuulikki Pietilä spent their summers on the tiny remote island of Klovharu, recording their activities with a Super 8 camera. The resulting documentary is a rare poetic look into the life of the female artists, their partnership and the years passing by through their own eyes and their own words.
Artworks by both artists are on view in the Kumu Art Museum at the exhibition “Creating the Self. Emancipating Woman in Estonian and Finnish art”.
