Almost Nothing. CERN Experimental City

The film is about the operation of the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, focusing on the daily activities and personal stories of the scientists working there. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), established in 1954 near Geneva, on the border between France and Switzerland, is an international research organisation which will accept Estonia as a member state this year. The establishment is known for research on particle physics and holds the famous particle accelerator. It also offers a well-known and successful residency for artists who are interested in linking art and science, so that they can be on site where new scientific discoveries are being made. At the time of the screening of the film, the contemporary art gallery of Kumu will display the exhibition Broken Symmetries, consisting of works of art created by CERN’s artists-in-residence.
